The Story Behind The Making Of Palmii

Chapter 1: The joining of an awesome friend group

At the start of JK Kaeden the Lead Guitarist and Chase the Rhythm Guitarist had met for the first time and shared the same bus stop because they were neighbours. They weren't the best of friends at the time but they got along well until Chase left the elementary school they were both attending in Grade 1. In Grade 2 Blake the bassist moves schools and goes to the same elementary school but didn't meet Kaeden yet. Chase had returned to the same elementary school as Kaeden and Blake later in the year of Grade 2. Blake starts hanging around Chase's friend group and with the power of the legendary invention of Yo Mama jokes they begin to get along.

Kaeden and Blake didn't really talk until the start of Grade 6 where the friend group they had which was Chase, Kaeden, Blake, and Ashton was split up into two different classrooms. Kaeden and Blake were in one of the classrooms and Ashton and Chase were in the other. Blake and Kaeden begin to talk more and more with each other doing group projects and abusing the powers of Kaeden being allowed to go on his Chromebook to quickly become best friends. Fortunately during late Grade 6 when the COVID-19 Pandemic begins which meant for the boys that they got to stay home, do little amounts of homework, and play video games all day. This was truly the dream, but sadly this would make us all terrible at communicating outside and weirder than we already were in the future.

They would eventually go back to school at the start of Grade 7 having to wear masks which would get sweaty really fast and would have to distance our desks and during recess. This time it was Chase and Blake in one class and Kaeden in the other one. Even though the field was split into groups based on classes thanks to the social distancing Blake and Chase would meet Kaeden and the others at the line that seperated the classes and hangout. Every now and then one of us would be a devious little ass whipe and go across the line but that would be short because the teachers had the vision of a Greek God and could see everything that happened. Little to say Grade 7 was a really boring time since there was little to nothing to do thanks to the stupid virus that spread around.

Grade 8 would come around and we still had to wear masks but at least this time we were all in the same class. Our hair had become extremely overgrown to the point Blake was probably blinder than your average referee. Having to make presentations for stuff in group projects would inspire the idea of making short videos for shits and giggles. We would make a video about Alcohol, Boxing Day, and Valentine's Day. We would make a stupid name for the quote-on-quote company that makes these stupid videos called Frostco. Every now and then Kaeden and Blake would go to the music room to practice guitar. At first, the music teacher only kept Kaeden in to practice because he was the one who asked if the music teacher could help him learn the guitar. But later on, he would invite Blake to join him and learn and others would catch word that they were allowed to go giving the music teacher 4-5 more members to teach. At the end of Grade 8, we would make the Grade 8 graduation video which would become Frostco's biggest project and we would move on to high school.

Kaeden, Blake, and Chase would all go to the same high school where they would meet a bunch of new people who would soon join the friend group. Blake and Kaeden decide to throw a Halloween party at Blake's house and would invite all of the new friends they met. One of these friends would be Neal the drummer and Neal was a bit lost but eventually grew closer to us and became best friends.

Chapter 2: The start of Palmii

During the second semester of Grade 9, Blake had taken a music class and chose to play the bass guitar since it was the closest looking thing to a guitar. Blake grew a liking to the bass guitar and music as a whole just from that class. Later on Kaeden and Blake would catch word that there were auditions going on for the upcoming arts festival and we thought that we should play a song together for it. We decided to learn the song The Fall by Lovejoy. We had one of our few new friends sing for us since we couldn't really sing and still can't really sing. There would later be another event for people in the arts to show the Grade 8s and raise money and this time our friend didn't want to be our singer so we had to find another person. We decided to ask Neal to be our singer and he said he would do it since he isn't too shy when it comes to singing.

Eventually, we realized that we had most of the components needed to make a band. A singer, a guitarist, a usually the most difficult to find, a bassist. After realizing this we thought that we should make this small music thing real and give ourselves a band name. We had an idea for the theme of the name which was tropical so our first idea for about a week or two weeks would be The Tropicals. That would be until Neal suggested the name idea of Palm which would be short for palm trees and we all liked that idea. We had a band name and now all we needed was a Drummer. Grade 10 begins and Blake makes an advertisement for drummer auditions that we would ask to get set up in the school. The only places that it was seen were on the school's Instagram story which only lasted a day and in the guidance room where we couldn't even find it. There was no hope except for putting the ad on all of our socials. Unfortunately none of those really worked, until we ran into someone new who said they used to play drums when they were younger. We would try and have her practice but she'd just sit around because in reality she lost all the skill she had on drums and didn't want to tell us. Matter of fact we don't even know if the fact that she used to play drums is true either.

Chase had a disturbingly good talent at rhythm games like Guitar Hero and we always told him he should learn real guitar. It was only when he wanted something new to do since he only really played games that he decided to learn guitar. He got the guitar down in less than 2 months and joined our band. After another failed potential drummer case and another arts festival, Neal had out of nowhere grown an interest in the drums. An interest so big that he would watch videos all about the drums every day and play on them every time we would practice in the music room. And almost as fast as Chase learned guitar Neal learned the drums.

That's our story so far :)
